Responsibility

As a Product Designer, Branding Lead at the REC Innovation Lab in San Diego, I was responsible for designing, developing, prototyping and testing high fidelity app prototypes for business startups. Med-Alert is a startup based in San Diego, developing a task delegation system that empowers nurses to create and delegate tasks in real-time and on the go.

In addition to developing and creating Med-Alert’s brand identity, my significant contribution was designing a delegation platform to reduce operational inefficiencies.

Initiative

Nurse burnout is a significant cause for nearly half of nursing facilities falling victim to errors, and the medical field has been detrimentally affected. Med-Alert allows nurses to create, claim, and delegate tasks to encourage facility teamwork, streamline day-to-day activities, and reduce workplace errors. Nurses are the unsung heroes of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and Med-Alert aims to make their lives easier by preparing personal tasks for the day, a checklist of action-items, glanceable crucial information about any appointments, an option to delegate tasks to different nurses.

Project Goals

Streamline Operations: Develop an intuitive, user-friendly interface to streamline the creation, claiming, and delegation of tasks, significantly reducing time spent on administrative duties and allowing nurses to focus more on patient care.

Enhance Task Visibility: Create a collaborative platform that encourages nurses to share responsibilities. The platform should offer at-a-glance crucial information about the tasks, appointments, and emergencies at hand, thus facilitating faster, more informed decisions and responses from the nursing staff.

Prioritize Nursing Wellbeing: Acknowledging the high stress and burnout rates among nurses, the system should have features designed to balance workloads and manage stress levels, contributing to healthier work environments and improved staff retention.

Improve Daily Planning: The system should assist nurses in efficiently preparing their daily tasks, offering an organized checklist of action-items for the day, ensuring no task is missed and further enhancing their operational efficiency.
